For the love of Red States

I am trying my best to understand my poor brethren to the south and west of me, that little (and admittedly spacially large) hammock of conservatism. But I dare say, as I remove my smoking pipe, it is a confounding phenomenon. I ponder these things because I recently returned from a trip to a Red State (herein referred to as RS) where someone made the analysis that "Non-Americans don't say I'm sorry. It's not in their culture."
And this is where we have a lot to learn-- a lot to learn in not simply remaining speechless, rolling over, and letting RS spread.
